June 15, 1951 Born in Lincoln, Nebraska

C. 1952 Family moved to Sioux Falls, SD

C. 1955 Family moved to Minneapolis

C. 1959 Eye operation

Autumn 1962 Family moved to Concord, MA; became Unitarian Universalists and joined the historical First Parish Church

Summer 1965 Family moved to Holden, MA

Summer 1967 Family moved to Manchester, CT

June, 1970 Graduated from Manchester High School

Sept. 1970 Began studies at Paier School of Art in New Haven, CT

C. 1973 Transferred to the Minneapolis College of Art and Design

July 4, 1978 Sister Valerie married Maj. Gen. Fred Haynes, USMC

March 2, 1979 Daughter Athena Diane Samuel born in New Orleans

1979 Moved to Washington, DC area; lived at 508 Prince Street, Alexandria, VA

Summer 1980 Moved to Southern California

1988 Married Leslie Ladd of Los Angeles

March 21, 1989 Daughter Dana Flora born in Los Angeles

Summer 1995 Moved to the Phoenix, AZ area

June 15, 1996 Vance showed his art at the Alfred Packer's Festival in Littleton, Colorado, where he met Kermit Breyer. This was the beginning of a long-term friendship with Kermit. Vance spent a number of subsequent summers in Colorado where he participated in many art shows and "camped out" at Kermit’s house in Centennial, Colorado.

June 20, 1996 Father, John Bertrand Larson, died at home in Minneapolis

1997 Won “Best of Show” at Beverly Hills Affaire in the Gardens

March 23, 1999 Grandson James Jacob Christopher Wells born (son of daughter Athena)

C. 2000 Purchased house in Cave Creek, AZ

January 2004 Mother, Shirley Glynn Lockwood, remarried—to Bud Kraeling of Minneapolis

August 2006 Operation for cancer of the duodenum

Summer 2008 Sold house in Cave Creek and moved to an apartment

February 14, 2010 Died at his apartment in Cave Creek

March 5-7, 2010 Memorial art show (at the Thunderbird Art Festival in Carefree, AZ) and Memorial Party (at Harold’s Corral in Cave Creek)
